Would like to announce another Swarthout opera singer. Ryan MacPherson is the great grandson of Florence Swarthout,who died in 1966. She is the daughter of Joseph Swarthout who died in Torrington, Wyoming in 1946. He was the son of George Washington Swarthout date of birth 1829 in New York.
Ryan is Yale educated and has performed in many outstanding venues. He is in his third season with the New York City Opera. He won the Gold Award this season for young artists who are most likely to have a major career in opera. His web site is www.ryanmacpherson.com please visit it to read his resume. His next performance is with Opera Shreveport singing Faust. He will sing his debut recital in Carnegie Hall in February of 2006, sponsored by the University of Missouri.
We've been working a long time to tie him DIRECTLY to Gladys. Our efforts thus far have proved to us that Florence Swarthout and Gladys Swarthout are not first cousins as we had thought. However, Ryan is a blood related Swarthout and we could really use some help to find out how this branch of the Swarthout family fits into the scheme of things. Any firm information reelating to this would certainly be appreciated. We have done considerable research on this and may have information that may be of use to someone else.
