Dear Peter Murphy.

I wish I knew more about the names of James Swanton’s parents, or indeed of Abbé Swanton’s. Since they likely lived at Swantonstown (now Ballydehob), Co Cork, the parish records might contain the relevant information.

But I have yet to delve there. Have you tried the Mormon database, to see whether they have transcribed the Ballydehob/Swantonstown parish records? Might be worth a try.

I don’t have the link, but I daresay Google would get you to the mormon records home page.
