My 4GGrandfather was Francis Godfrey Swann. The first verifyable record I have of him was when he married in Logan Co. KY In 1807 to Elizabeth Chambers d/o Nathan Chambers and Mary Small.Shortly after (1809-1812)the family moved to St.Claire Co. IL and bought property and built a block house for protection from Indians, and called it Fort Chambers.Francis served as a Ranger in the war of 1812. Sometime in the early 1830,s they moved to Jersey Co. IL where they bought property and remained until they died, Francis 11Feb 1848 and Elizabeth 6 Sep 1844. They are buried in the Salem Cemetary at Newbern. There is a biography of Francis in the book The History Of Jersey Co. which includes a picture or his gravestone. The children Of Francis Godfrey Swann and Elizabeth (Betsey) Chambers were
Sarah (my direct line)m. George Noble
James Godfrey m. 1Elizabeth Ralston 2 Elizabeth Rhoads
Nathan Chambers m. Mary Ann Patton
Sophronia m. C.S. Whitcomb
Mary Burgess m. Jacob Utt
Elizabeth m. Wiilliam Rhoads
John Page m. Melissa Felle
Samuel
Isaac Newton
I have more info in hand written notes that I have yet to decipher.
