Dear Jeanne,

My stepdaughter asked me to trace her family tree. I just recently received a death certificate of her great grandmother born in Wst Virginia in 1888 named Amizetta Louise Jenkins. It shows her parents to be Henry Poteet and Elizabeth Swan.

I looked through the 1880 census for an Elizabeth Swan born about 20 years earlier in West Virginia. I found Elizabeth age 17 (b. ca. 1863) and her parents were Henley C. Swann and Mary A. She had a sister named Emmesetta. I thought this HAS to be the Elizabeth I am looking for.

I then looked at George's site and Elizabeth, daughter of Henley, was not married to a Poteet.

Any ideas who this Elizabeth might be would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Deena Cross
