My Swans are also from Alabama although I dont know what part. They migrated to Mississippi just before or just after the Civil War. The Swan(n)s stayed in Lauderdale,Ms for a short period and then moved to Hinds & Yazoo counties. Most of my ancesters were named John, David(dave,Davis), George (Wash) & Louis. My ancesters at least during the 1800-1890s appeared rename their kids after their sisters & brothers.Sallie, Ella & etc. The earliest census my great grandfather was found in was 1870 in Yazoo,Ms living with Dave,David Swan. I do not know david's ezact relations to George washington Swan bka "WASH SWAN"
