4th Annual Schwanger Reunion
The 4th annual reunion of the Schwanger Family Association will be held on Saturday, 24 June adn Sunday, 25 June 2000, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, 4788 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg PA17111-3729. The theme is The Second Settlement: 1755.
On 20 Oct 1747, Jacob and Maria Susanna Leyenberger Schwanger emigrated from Helleringen, Lorraine, France, to Phidadelphia. They lived in the Tulpehocken region of Lancaster (now Lebanon) County, Pennsylvania. In 1775 they moved westward and pruchased land somewhere in Middleton Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. By 1785, their eldest son Paul owned 150 acres in what is now South Middleton Township, south of Carlisle. Our reunion this year will emphasize Paul's family and his descendants.

Presenters
Dr. Alvin K. Swonger, professor of pharmacology at the University of Rhode Island and primary author of "The Schwangers, Swangers, Swongers in America" (now in its fourth edition) will present the Keynote Address on Paul Schwanger and hisdescendants. An annual treat at every national reunion, Dr. Swonger's keynote address is highly visual and interesting to adults and youth.
Sharon Swanger, director of the Family History Library, Harrisburg Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, will conduct a hands-on workshop on How to Use a Family History Library. She will demonstrate the many materials available at most FHC libraries and how to use the high tech equipment. Bring your genealogy!
