Hi Andy,

These are exactly the families I am trying to unravel. I am decended from Barabra Morrison (1796) daughter of Thomas Morrison (b 1766) and Janet Tait (b1768). Other siblings John, Janet, Thomas, George and Robert.

I have info that says Thomas Morrison was one of the first ship builders at Kelvin dock before the Swans. He passed the business to his son John and then it went to the Swans.

I have various information that seems to point to a link between the two families and I had assumed some marriage but I cant quite work it out.
Here are some of the random things I have found. Can you link any of them?

A marriage of a David Swan and Janet Meikle in 1812
A marriage of John Morrison (carpenter) and Helen Bell in 1817
A marriage of a David Swan(shipbuilder at Kelvindock) and a Janet Morrison in 1840.
They had a children Helen Bell and Jessie Meikle among others so suggests a connection betwwen all these records.

There is also some info from wills and testaments on the 2 families too.

Can you shed any light on this?
Thanks catriona
