In reviewing the Pension materials of Andrew Swallow there are two things that surprised me:

ONE: Andrew Swallow knew German and wrote in German. Catherine Swallow in an affidavid before an Overton County Justice of the Peace stated that Andrew wrote out on a piece of paper the names and birthdates of his family. An added note says in the file that what was written was translated from German.

TWO: Catherine Swallow swore before this same Justice of the Peace that she had not been married prior to marrying Andrew Swallow.
