Hi Tom,
It appears we may have a common ancestry. My Gr-Grandmother was Nancy Ann Swackhammer (1818 to 1908).She married John Gibbons in 1843 in Esquesing Township, Ontario.
Her father was Jacob Swackhammer who I list as being born 16 September 1793 in Long Valley, Morris, New Jersey. Her mother was Mary Maria Thompson, born 14 Oct. 1799 in Ontario. They are both buried in Churchill Cemetery, Concession 4, Lot 32, Halton County, near Acton Ontario. This cemetery is actually the northwest corner of Jacob's original farm.It was started in 1827 when Julia Ann, the daughter of John Swackhammer died.
My dates of death matched the ones in your data base (10 Jan. 1874, and 15 June 1890 respectively).
What may be of interest to you is that I believe I have digitized tintypes of Jacob, Maria and Nancy Ann.These tintypes were in a box of unidentified photos that I inherited, so my identification was logical rather than scientific but I'm pretty sure that these are the Swackhammers.
I was born and raised in Acton, and my mother maintained a scrapbook that I have also inherited so there may be other Swackhammer information that I can share with you.
I'm very interested in the data base you've assembled, and will share anything I have with you.

I'm also going to cc [email protected] in case she is also interested in this data.My guess is that somewhere along the ling, these Swackhammer families are connected. It's not the commonest of surnames.
