Donna: I deeply appreciate your response to my inquiry. Your information on Neltje FISHER, wife of Hendrick SUYDAM is new to me and does add 'another' tidbit to the puzzle. The NY marriage data on a William SUYDAM to Arres BOGART (12/23/1775) is interesting; the dates are consistent. Do you have any further data on his lineage and descendants?
My lineage goes as follows: Harry A. SEDAN (b. 1908 Chicago) s/o Harry O SEDAN (formerly SEDAM) (b. 1878 Carroll County, Indiana) s/o Daniel SEDAM (b. 1851 Cotton Twp., Switzerland, Indiana) s/o Henry H. SEDAM (b 1812 Bedminister Twp., N.J.) s/o Henry SEDAM (b. 1778 N.J.)
Believed s/o William SUYDAM (b. about 1757 Somerset, N.J.) Believed s/o Hendrick SUYDAM (b. about 1735). As you know, the documentation questions arise starting with Henry to William.
From what I have seen so far, I like you, would tend to accept the basic premise that sufficient information exists to support the tentative conclusions of Mr. Clifton and others, until proven otherwise.
Also, a few years back I received an E-Mail communication from a Charles SEDAM, of Lousiana, stating that he could clear up the confusion of the lineage of Henry SEDAM s/o William SUYDAM with documented sources. I spent over a year trying to further communicate with him; all to no avail.
I hope that somewhere, sometime, someone will find the elusive documents to verify these assumptions.
