I, too am researching Suttle.Selma is located in Dallas County, but is very close to Perry County, Alabama. Also, Alabama county lines were readjusted, maybe more than once, in the 1800's.
In 1830, there was a William Suttle and a Samuel Suttle living in Perry County. In 1840, there Was a Jesse Suttle, a James H. Suttle and a William Suttle in Perry County.I am researching Jesse.I think Jesse, James and William were sons of William and Elizabeth.

VA 1783) and moved to Perry county shortly after its creation. The town of Suttles was named after them."Town" is somewhat misleading, today, but after all, I was not there in 1830.There is still a roadsign marking the town of Suttles and there is a school named Suttle School, but it is closed. There is also a store building, now abandoned, that was operated by a man named Suttle.James or John, possibly.I don't know if this will be any help or not.Your family member might be a descendant of one of these.Good luck
