Sutterfield Origins Research. You can help!

Hello everyone

Some of you will be aware of the research I have been doing on the origins of all the surnames seemingly related to the hamlet of Satterthwaite in the Lake District of England. Some updates:

1. I have created a new separate webpage specifically about this subject: http://users.skynet.be/lancaster/Satterthwaite.html

Comments welcome!

2. DNA research continues to give evidence that all the relevant surnames have a common ancestry, as well as fascinating hints that they all seem to descend from a member of the "de Lancastre" family who ran the area around Satterthwaite for more than a century in the 1100s and 1200s.

BUT we still do NOT have anyone with the Sutterfield spelling. Indeed, we also can't yet compare the Satterfields (probably cousins of the Sutterfields with a variant spelling) on all the markers we'd like to.

The DNA project (http://users.skynet.be/lancaster/Lancaster.htm) is run by its member families (no hard work involved!) and let's hope we can get two families for each variant spelling. Any takers?

Best Regards
Andrew Lancaster
