I have seen the documentation and believe there is a conncetion between the Southerland/Sutherlin and the Austin Benjamin[A.B.] Mayfield I am searching for!ANY help will be appreciated and I am more than happy to share whatever I have of interest to anyone.
It has been reported that Austin Benjamin's d.o.b. is 1748.This is wrong, while his children listed is correct.I am 6th generation [from A.B. to present].We have little info on A.B. prior to him moving his wife [Susanah (Henderson?)] and 6 of his 9 children from Tn.
Time line: Austin Benjamin, b. 1781, NC > TN, served in the War of 1812, married w/ 6 children by 1817, > to Cotton Gin Port, Monroe County, MS 1817 where he had 3 additional children and died in 1849.Children were:
Isaac, b. TN 1803; Elizabeth, b. TN, mar Obediah Trimmer, 1822; Nancy A., b. TN 1808, mar.Alfred Wiygul; Emily, married a Wilson, d. bef. 1852; Amanda, living in TX in 1852; Martha, mar. Isham Flynn; Frances, b. MS?, m. Seborn Bickerstaff; Grandison, nothing, b. MS ?; Susannah Angeline, b. MS ?, m. Abel[Abile] S. Lawrence Monroe Cnty 8/2/1841.
additional names that I believe make the connection are: Isaac, James, Valentine, John(?).I have seen where he is reportedly the son of Isaac and Isabella's son Southerland.
The dates don't match up for this.It is possible that he is their Grandson. The Dau. of the War of 1812 have placed a marker on his grave noting his service in that Campaign. As I said, any additional info would be greatly appreciated!Thank you for your time and attention.
