I guess you can tell that I don't check this as often as I should! My family descende from William J. Sutherland and Hannah Sutherland through their second son David. The (J.) has always been a mystery and unfortunately,I'm afraid I don't have any new facts to clear it up.Hannah ancestry was alot easier to trace back through her father David (wife Judith Palmer) to his father (another William b1690 Westchester County).
Back to William J.; I could find no record of his landing in HorseNeck,Ct. in the Greenwich archives. They (at Greenwich) believe that the area known as Horse Neck is actually a point of land South of Greenwich. They also acknowledged that the bay was much to shallow for ocean vessels to enter. They would have had to arrive by a smaller packet from another port.
Do you have any information as to where they came from in Scotland?
Hope to here from you, Paul H. Sutherland
