Joseph Sermon, Bedfordshire c. 1883

Mum recollects her granddad Joseph Sermon and wife, Eliza, had a pub in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, at the time Joseph's son, George, was a child. George was born c. 1883, the secondest youngest of 8 - Joseph (oldest), Willy, Ada, Polly (Margaret), Frank, Albert? and Alfred? I have searched the 1881 census, free BDMs, IGI, and others with no success in finding any other information. A Joseph Surman married Eliza Howzego in Limehouse, London in1869. Could this be my Joseph? (My family probably C of E.)
