Two Thirza SURMAN's

Good morning Maureen.

Thank you for the reply. Joseph SURMAN was married twice. His second marriage was to an Ellen HALL and they had 12 children, one named Thirza. It is possible that this is the one you found.
-
I just looked and the data I have is Thirza Elizabeth SURMAN-HALL, born 1862, married to a William HIGGINS 5/15/1882. So, she doesn't fit either!
-
There is also an unknown Thirza that I have seen mentioned in old letters. She would have been old enough to tend to business matters after the death of Ellen HALL's aunt, in 1876. The sentence states "Thirza is there now and wants to know if she should let the business for 3 months," or words to that effect. No last name or relationship. So, it is likely that in the SURMAN and HALL family there are more Thirza's.
-
There is one here too, born in Clerkenwell in 1865 and died in South Dakota in 1944, married name WHITMER. A lot of relatives with a relatively uncommon first name.
-
Sure appreciate the work you do on the SURMAN name!
-
bye, dj
