Hi there! It's quite interesting how many "Surman's" are out there ;) I'm writing from Germany so I apologize for my simple english. My family name is Surmann ("mann" has the same meaning as "man") but I don't have any information about relatives in England or the USA. My grandma lived in Bochum near Essen (also called "Ruhrpott") until her death 3 years ago. I have one question: does anybody know what's the meaning of the name "Surmann"? Any suggestions?
