Hello John, glad you are still at it - sorry to have been out of touch have you unearthed the missing "James Surman" from our line - travelled to NZ as James Surman with half brother Thomas Robbins Surman and family, sister Jemima Harding (nee Surman) and Mother Sarah Miles... this James, was actually James Miles and was Sarah's son by second husband George Miles, but known as a Surman. James left NZ shores for the S.A. goldfields with Thomas' son Thomas Henry Surman (b.1871). James was last known to be in Kalgoolie S.A. late 1890's. Don't know if he remained a "Surman" or changed back to a "Miles" when once in South Australia. My very best regards and have a grand Christmas. Valerie
