I found a passenger list for the ship "Dorette," that left Portland, Dorset, England, on January 22, 1874. The ship took 76 days to arrive at Hobson's Wharf, Auckland, New Zealand, on April 14, 1874.

The address for the site is http://www.btinternet.com/~drewsankie/index.htm and the page with the ten Surman passengers is http://www.btinternet.com/~drewsankie/13.htm . The main page is for a "Markie" family but the contributor was kind enough to include the entire passenger list (which led to this post).
