You mention the Ruble family which intermarried with the Surbers as a possible connection for Rachel Surber. That family of Surbers lived in Highland County, which is adjacent to Fayette county. That family was in Ohio by 1810, so Rachel could not have been born in Virginia as is stated in all of the census years. There was another Surber family in Fayette Co., Ohio in about 1840 which had moved on to Highland County by 1850.That is the family of John Surber and Sarah Musson. They were not known to have any children and none are mentioned in John's will. However, they were in the right place at the right time and could have been somehow related to Rachel.Another question that comes to mind is how do you know Rachel's maiden name?Do you have a marriage record for her or some other document?I am unable to place this young lady on the family tree and I am intrigued by her.
