Sontag to Sunday??
Posted by: Mark Sondys Date: June 01, 1999 at 17:29:40

Was it common for Dutch immigrants
(or any nationality) to
translate their names (literally) to
english? ie Sontag to Sunday.

Researching John Sunday Baldwin Co., GA
c. 1820> Escambia Co., FL c. 1830.
Originally from Amsterdam.
What is the probability that the name was
changed upon moving to the states?
