Hi there, Sumpter relative (Tom or James),
I came across your old post while doing work in the Sumpter Family in my Lewis Family Tree on Ancestry.com.
I just wanted you to know that I have completed most of the Sumpter and Doolittle lines and would be willing to share info with you.
Your great grandfather, George W. (Wilder) Sumpter (1865-1926) was married to Alminta "Minnie" Doolittle (1865-1957), who is related to my grand aunt, Eunice Melissa (Doolittle) Roberts found in my McDermott-Roberts Tree. When I came across the Doolittles in my Lewis Tree, I was intriqued filled in relatives down to the present time, ending up with your parents, Henry Hugh "Hank" Sumpter (1918-1995) and Mary Lillian Milne, who were married in Hood River County, Oregon in 1944.
I would be willing to provide info or invite you as a guest to my Lewis Tree on Ancestry.com so you could see your Sumpter heritage (with documents, obits, and some photos too).
You may be able to answer a few questions as well.I was wondering:Do you know how your grandfather, Henry (Hugh?) Sumpter, died on July 30, 1918?Was he killed in the war?from the Spanish flu? or in an accident?I always wonder why someone died, especially the young, when I come across them in a tree. Your grandfather died before your father was even born -- just like my great grandfather died the day before my Grandma Grace was born.
Even though you did not get to know you grandfather, I have filled in his ancestors and would love to share the info with you.Let me know if I can help.
Have a lovely weekend!
