Hi Carol,

It is good to hear from another cousin. I am sure you know some of my/our relatives.

Yes, I was born in Wayne County. I have lived in Lawrenceburg, KY (Anderson county) since 1970 so this is home to me. I have been married to the same person, Bobby G. Hatter, for 40 years. We have two sons, Jacky Ray and Robby Lynn Hatter.

I have just retired from the Osram Sylvania Fluorescent Lamp Plant in Versailles, KY after 30 years of service. I am 57 years young/old.

Earl and Louise Doss, their three sons – “Bub” (Earl Ray), Mike and Tommy, are the closest relatives that I have living there with the exception of one of my first cousins on my dad’s side, Cecil Lowe, who has worked at Rankin’s Market for years.

You probably remember, our cousin, Ralph Thornton who worked in one of he drug stores in Monticello for years. He just recently passed away.

I have copied and pasted my mother’s parents and her sibling’s information below.

Edwin and Amelia Irene Thornton Doss had seven children all of whom were born in Wayne County, KY. Edwin was a miller until they closed the mill. He was a miller of grain, not a sawmill worker. After the mill was closed, he was a roofer and still roofing at the age of seventy plus. This concerned his children very much since he had a balance problem. He would occasionally stagger and almost fall.

Ina Irene Doss Boatman is the oldest child of Edwin and Amelia Doss. She married James Ruble Boatman, who is deceased. They had two children, James Ruble, Jr and Patricia Irene. They have lives in Tullahoma, TN many years.

Doratha Vernon (Dorothy) was married to Walter Sherman Lowe. They were divorced in New Castle, IN. She married Monroe Perry who was born in Lincoln Co, KY and who died as a result of an automobile accident in Cincinnati, Ohio. She married Arie Oliver Elliott who was born in Casey County, KY.

Walter and Dorothy had seven children, Anna Jane, Billy Ray, Betty Jean, Norma Ruth, Mary Sue, Katie Lou, and Lytha Mae Lowe.

Edwin “Paul” Doss married Myrtie “Lillie” Pearl Chriswell Doss. They had one child, a son Charles William who lives in New Castle Indiana.

Charles “Howard” married Louella Massengale. They had five children, “Bob”, Donnie, Steven, Danny Joe and “Sis” (Virginia Irene). I think most of them live in Indianapolis.

Lucy “Ethel” married Ocie “Denver” Fairchild. They had four children, Linda Lou, Brenda, Raymond and Rebecca “Becky”.

Proctor “Earl” married Helen “Louise” Adkins. They had three sons – “Bub” (Earl Ray), Mike and Tommy.

Anna Ruth Doss died as a small child.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Are you working on a family tree by using a computer program? I use “The Family Tree Maker”. I have over 2600 names in my database.

I had already found the remainder of your siblings and have added the information to my database. I couldn’t find your mother. Was she born in KY? When is her birth date and death date?

Your brother Gary’s name was spelled Garil so I was not sure if he was a male. Thank you for confirming this info. That is the bad thing about these CDs; they have so many typos on them.

I love meeting new cousins on the internet and try to find out all I can about them and give them as much information as I can about my “limb”.
