1700s & Early 1800s VA Records
A research project to identify all of the records containing SUMPTERs and SUMTERs in Virginia documents during the 1700s and early 1800s has initiated.Hopefully, this effort will assist in sorting out which SUMPTER or SUMTER is the progenitor of descendants having roots in Virginia.
So far, three SUMPTER / SUMTER descendants have volunteered to pool their research efforts in an attempt to accomplish this task.Would you like to join us in this research effort?
At my local library, the Virginia records on microfilm can be obtained through interlibrary loan at a cost of $1.00 per roll for return postage and copies can be made for 10 cents a page.Perhaps, your local library has a similar system for interlibrary loan of microfilm.
I have lists of microfilm for several Virginia counties which are available through the Library of Virginia and the LDS Family History Centers.I'll gladly send this information to anyone wishing to assist in this research project.
Please consider becoming a volunteer for this worthwhile research effort.
