MRS. DANIEL (MARY LYNCH) SULLIVAN

The death of Mrs. Mary Sullivan, widow of Daniel Sullivan, occurred on Tuesday (Mar.25) morning at about eleven o'clock, at the family home in the west part of town, following an illness resulting from a general breaking of the physical forces, due to advance age.
Mary Lynch was born in the year 1830 in County Kerry, Ireland. She was married in her native land to James Pierce, and with one child they came to America in 1848. They remained in the Eastern states until 1857 when they came west and located at Memphis Tenn. There they resided until her husband enlisted in the civil war, and met his death in battle at Summerville. Following his death she came to Alton, Ill., where in 1864 she was united in marriage with Daniel Sullivan. From this union four children were born. They removed to Springfield, Ill., in 1865, and in 1874 to Havana, Ill.; in 1886 to Farmington, Ill. and in 1888 they came to Chatsworth, where the family home has since been, Mr. Sullivan having filled the position of section foreman for the T.P.& W. and the I.C. railroads until his death which occurred May 4, 1903. since that time Mrs. Sullivan and her daughter have continued to reside in the family home, formerly the M.H. Hall property.
The surviving children are Mrs. Julia Knapp, nee Lynch, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the following children by the last union: Mary, wife of D.H.R. Herberich, Miss Kate, at home and Daniel, of Aurora. There are also six grandchildren and a large circle of friends to mourn her death.
The funeral services were held on Thursday morning at nine o'clock at SS. Peter and Paul's church, Rev. W.J. Burke officiating, and the interment was at St. Patrick's cemetery.
