In "A History of Calvert County, Maryland" by Chrles F. Stein (1976), at p. 350 is a "List of Taxables taken by William Hickman, Constable of Lyons Creek Hundred in the Year 1733".On adjacent lines are the following three entries:
Nathl. Bowen and 2 slaves..................3
Jos. Sullivan and 2 slaves.................3
Thos. Bowen, Jos. Sullivan and 1 slave.....3
Nathaniel Bowen was a brother of Thomas Bowen. Therefore, I interpret this tax data to mean that Thomas Bowen had a close connection to this Joseph Sullivan (son of the late Darby Sullivan) and this would be the case if they were brothers-in-law (i.e., if the Thomas Bowen who married Elizabeth Sullivan in 1717 was this same Thomas Bowen).
Does anyone know if Thomas and Elizabeth (Sullivan) Bowen had children??I am working on a theory that they had a daughter named Sarah, born about 1731.
