Preston Turner, GA genealogist, passed away
My Uncle, Preston Turner, passed away late last night or early this morning, at home in Blairsville, GA. He was the first genealogist in the Turner family, and perhaps among all our kin in N. E. GA.He wrote a book about the history of Union Co., GA., which is a permanent item at the LDS library in SLC, UT. He also submitted countless names to the library beginning in the 1950's, and thus built the base for most modern Georgia Turner genealogy, and many related families including: Sullivan, Collins, Dyer, Brown, Nix, Logan, Duckworth, and Jackson, to name a few.
Preston was 81. He had emphysema. He had driven to west Texas near N.M. a week ago, for his health. But falling ill, he had to fly home. He was found in bed this morning, deceased. I will always remember my Uncle Preston for his profound genius, keen wit, and deep love of kin. No arrangements have been made yet. He died on the day of the funeral of his aunt, Cleo (Nix) King, who is being buried at 2:00 pm today at Old Liberty Church near Blairsville, GA.
