Thomas and Nancy (Boswell) Sullivan
The subject couple married 1791 in Albemarle Co. VA and relocated to Stokes Co. NC.They had 11 known children, ten of whom were born prior to the 1810 Census. There is some doubt as to birth order of the children, and less than total certainty on some of the spouses, but I show their children as:
William (m. Nancy COX), Elizabeth (m. Thomas FULP), Thomas Jr (m. Alcy Carr VANCE -- my ancestors), Richard m. Penina GIBSON), Ellender "Nellie" (m. John SAMUEL), Matthew (m. Sallie Hannah VANCE), Verlinda "Linnie" (m. David S YOUNG), Nancy (m. John W GIBSON), Isabella "Sibba" (m. Richard MARSHALL), Benjamin, and Joseph D (m. Tabitha CHAFFIN).
William SULLIVAN (1792VA-1845NC) was the oldest child and established the Sullivan Family Cemetery in what is now northern Forsyth Co.Thomas Jr (1795VA-1873NC) was buried with his wife and many descendants at Loves Church in Walkertown, Forsyth Co.Among them is my great grandmother, Maria SULLIAN, first wife of William Franklin CLAYTON.Matthew SULLIVAN lived on "waters of Belews Creek" and died before Forsyth Co. was separated from Stokes, but left a widow and six young children.Joseph was the youngest child, born 1814; his heirs were in Hawkins Co. TN 1869.Most of the girls lived and died in what is still Stokes Co.I'd like to learn more about them.
Nancy (BOSWELL) SULLIVAN was born in MD and went to Albemarle Co. VA when young, with her father Matthew BOSWELL Sr.I believe that Thomas SULLIVAN Sr. was also born in MD, but would like to compare notes with other investigators.
