I htink there is a possible link to my family that is also lived in N. Ca. My ggrandmother Ellen Sullivan married Timothy Crowley in Ferndale (Port Kenyon) California south of Eureka. This Sullivan family came originally from Canada from Cork and dispursed to California and elsewhere for the gold rush and for lumbering. In the early San Francisco census records there is a Thomas Sullivan a lumberman - 1850's with two brothers Daniel was one of the brothers. This family later moved to Oakland and I think Shasta and Lake County.
The name of James Coakley married to one of you relatives is further indication of a relationship between therse families who all intermarried for many years as my fathers aunt married Daniel Coakley whose brother was James Coakley. This Sullivan family also married into the Murphy family I think. Murphys were also a lumbering family in the early days in Scotia Ca and Santa Rosa - bay areas. It is my belief that it is highly likely that your ancestors were likely linked to this group of early Californians.
