Sullivan - New Orleans, LA
Hi,
I thought I would see if anyone has this couple in their family. I would like to know if they had children and the names. And any other details??
Thanks,
Cary Hall
Mrs. Jeremiah Sullivan died Dec 21, 1853.
The following was copied from the Comercial Bulletan on Dec 22, 1853, Page 2, Col 3. (in New Orleans Public Library).
"Died from the Effects of her Beating- We mentioned a day or two since the arrest of a brute named Jeremiah Sullivan, for unmercifully beating his wife on the steamer Grand Turk. The poor woman was so badly injured that she had to be sent to the Charity Hospital, where she yesterday died from the effects of the blows received from the hands of the monster who stood in the relation of a husband to her. He will now, of course, be committed to stand his trial upon the charge of murder, and the most shocking and unnatural murder of a wife. To what will not man's ungovernable passions lead him?"
