I remmber you and I apologize. I do not remember receiving any more letters from you or I would have gladly answered. I too have been very busy working on my master's degree. I am 51 and it isn't easy competing in the workforce with all the young folks.
I truly believe Ralph Suit was s/o Benjamin Suite (d. 1810, St. Mary's co MD) because Benjamin's widow, Mildred "Milley" went to Dinwwidie Co VA in 1810 right after he died. There were 2 young men in the War of 1812 there named Augusitin Suit and Johnson Suite. (Milley returned to MD after the war.)
Ralph's line has Johnson/Johnston Suit's, so I believe they were named for his brother. Also, there was a man named Pleasant Suit living in the same vicinity of Va. He wrote a book on farming. I also believe he was a son of Benjamin Suite as well and that my own James Suite was also son of Benjamin.
Benjamin was s/o Dent Suite, Jr. so I believe Benjamin was much older than we had thought. Also, Benjamin was listed in the 1794 St. Mary's Co Militia with a Stephen Suit. (He must've died as there is no further mention of Stephen anywhere)--but this also tells me Stephen must've been his son. Then Ralph also has the name Stephn in his line too and we don't seem to see that anywhere else.
My guess (no proof yet) is that Benjamin Suite was married at least 3 times and Milley was his last wife. She didn't pass away until the 1860's and was in her 90's.
We know Kelita was her son with Benjamin and the ones named in his will were probably the youngest children. He died before his will was fininshed and a clergy man finished it--so we may never know the names of all of his children.
I do know Benjamin Suite was in CAswell Co NC in 1803 for the estate sale of Thomas Langley. So was Henry Burch.
Everyone says that Henry Burch who married Susannah Suite went on to OH or KY (I don't remember which off the top of my head) but there was a Henry Burch who died in Person Co NC in 1817 and I am going to get his will and estate to find out who he was. He must be the one who was with Benjamin in the estate sale. Also, they were all connected to a man in Caswell Co NC named Jesse Carter who died in 1815. There was also a William Suit who owed JEsse Carter money in the estate 1817. I believe he is the father of Bartlett Suit.
I have also found interesting information about the Richard Suite who d. 1801 in Halifax co NC. I still do not know who all of his children were either. Then, a Henry Suit died in Warren Co NC in 1810. We know he was also a son of Dent Suite, Jr. but not sure why he was not in his will in 1792 in St. Mary's Co MD.
(I got the wills of Richard and HEnry from the ARchives but they do not say much at all and neither list any children. Richard was married to REbeckah and Henry was married to Polly (Cauthen.) Richard's mother and sister were still living in 1801 when he died and he asked his wife to take care of them.
