John Suggs, Georgetown District, SC

Greetings!

I am looking for information on a John Suggs who is listed on the 1790 census in Georgetown District, South Carolina. The census shows 2 males over 16, 1 male under 16, and 1 female in the household.

The 1800 Kingston, Georgetown District, SC census shows three Suggs families: Charles, William (who might be John's brothers), and Milly Suggs. I believe Milly to be John's widow, as she is listed with the following in her household: 1 male under 10, 1 female under 10, 1 female 25-44.

Can anyone identify this family?

I am also looking for information regarding Sarah Suggs. She has been suggested as the wife of Basil Daniel (b. 1775, NC, d. 1864, Carroll, AR), but this has not been confirmed. I believe her to be the unnamed daughter of John and Milly Suggs, but cannot prove it yet. Basil and his family moved from SC to IL by 1820, and again to AR by 1840. If you have any information regarding John or Sarah, or can shed some light on how the Suggs and Daniel families might be connected, please contact me! My email is travisself@cox.net.

Thanks,
Travis Self
