James Suddarth, Sr., wb. ca 1730, as married to Patience Sumter, sister of General Thomas Sumter. Their son, James Suddarth, Jr., b. ca 1764, married Jane Randolph, daughter of John Randolph, who was the son of Henry Randolph. I have not figured out exactly how Henry Randolph was tied in to the Jefferson-Randolph family; however, he is related in some way to Thomas Jefferson's mother, Jane Randolph, d/o Isham Randolph. The families were intimately involved in other ways as well in that one of the Randolph-Suddarth women was Thomas Jefferson's nurse/doctor. Also, James Suddarth, Jr., and Jane Randolph named a son Randolph Jefferson Suddarth, and another son Thomas Sumter Suddarth.
