I have now discovered that he was Leonard Gorringe rather than Goringe, and that he was the son of Hugh Gorringe, J.P., of Kingston House, Kingston-by-Sea, Sussex.

I would still be interested in learning more about his Army career.

One of his elder brothers was Lieutenant General Sir George Frederick Gorringe, Royal Engineers (1868-1945).

Apparently after his first wife, my great aunt, left him for Ture Waldemar Rundgren, a dashing Swedish neighbour, sometime around the end of the First World War, he married Queenie Hardman. I have now found Leonard and Queenie's death notices in "The Times" (London).

Richard Carruthers(-Zurowski), M.A (Oxon.)
British Columbia
