autism, 1919 baby book, a new uncle
In 1974 when I was very young my ggrandfather found my mom and I and left a baby book with my mom of her father who I have never met and has been instituionalized since WW II. That ggrandfather had passed away and I knew nothing more, till I found that baby book 10 yrs ago and held on to it. It had the names of my grandfathers parents in it and the names of all the people who gave him gifts. Everything in it was foreign to me. It also had a picture of a group of people and said only "1936 Easter Day".This summer I spent doing my severly handicapped sons roots. I was determined to find out where this autism came from. Instead I found some truly wonderful living relatives. No autism anywhere. I posted from what I had in this baby book and a response came two days later.I had found my ggrandfathers family and a person who thought the world of him and also told me my grandfather wasn't well.A month later I found my ggrandmother who had passed away in 1936 shortly after the picture I had was taken and she was in it.From these findings I have a guncle I met only recently.
He was able to identify everyone in the 1936 picture for me and I was able to send him the information I had on his mother Grace who died in 1936 when he was only 3 years old! Thank you Genforum. I have been blessed!
On another forum I had not sent a letterwritten in 1956 about a family someone was looking for. I was surprised when I received an email back thanking me for the letter and saying that letter was written by their father who died in 1968.It was a beautiful letter about the family! Like they say what comes around, goes around and I have been doubly blessed in return! Thanks so much to everyone in the forum. You have all meant so much to me.
