Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

The first time we accessed genforum was reading down thru the post and came on a name
which was the same as my grgrandfather but was born much to late for it to be the same
person. I sent a message to the person submiting the post and discovered a living cousin. Her gr.grgrandfather and my gr. grgrandfather were brothers. We not only discussed information on my line and hers but she also has the name of the person that was an emigrant to this country. I am not only excited about finding information on my family but finding a cousin that knows the family and that I can talk to. I am sure she has a lot more information as we have only had an exchange of about three e-mail messages.

My wife has a similar exerience an genforum.
The main thing you need to remember is not to get discouraged.
