It works! Found my dad's family

My father was completely estranged from his family; I grew up thinking I had no relatives on my father's side of the family because he refused to talk about them. (His mother had died when he was around 8 years old, and his father put him in foster care, thus the family feud).

I posted a message in GenForum asking if anyone had ever heard of my grandfather, with the scant information I had, and VOILA! I've found relatives I couldn't have imagined! My grandfather was one of 10 children, and I was very lucky because a cousin was researching our family line and found my message.

Thanks to GenForum, my family has received a warm, receptive welcome into a family we never knew existed. I don't know how this would have happened without the message boards available here.
