I am related to the old Stockton family of New Jersey who came to that area in 1650's.
Richard Stockton signed the US Declaration of Independence. Stockton, CA was named after another descendent.
In 1997, my brother was tearing down part of an old house and found an old issue of Life Magazine, Dec. 10, 1956 vol. 41 #24. In it was a picture of Bayard Stockton sitting on his newly purchased yacht off Atlanta City. I had just recently found out that we were related. My family lives near Barrie, Ontario, Canada (about 60 miles north of Toronto)
