Still looking for the parentage of MARGARET ANN SUBLETT.
She appears in Montgomery Co VA when she marries JOHN W. SESSLER, (son of Samuel Sessler and Doras Brickey).
Margaret was born @1827 and marries John Sessler in Montgomery Co VA, July 15, 1845. They reside near Abraham Soblett/Sublett in 1850 Montgomery Co census. Parents are not listed on Margarets marriage record, but a Matilda Sublett is listed as Bondsmen. I am assuming this could be her mother and maybe her father is deceased. In Montgomery Co VA 1860 census, Matilda Sublett age 53 and her son, William R. age 19 are living with John Sessler and Margaret Sublett, which makes me think Matilda is her Mother or very close relative.
After Civil War, John and Margaret move to Kanawha co WV. They have an infant son to die in 1868 and Margaret is not listed in 1870 census, and John Sessler a blacksmith is listed as a boarder in the Newhouse family. Their daughters, Elizabeth G., Mary Ann Frances, and Pauline Alice all marry in Kanawha Co WV and raise their families there. Their two sons, I believe, move to Ohio and I have not been able to find them after the 1870 Kan. Co WV census.
The only clue I may have to the fathers name of Margaret is her sons, She names the oldest James A Sessler, and the second son she names Samuel (after John Sessler's father)and his middle name is David (which may be after her father.
Anyone who has information connecting my Margaret Ann Sublett to the other Montgomery Co Va Subletts please help.
The granddaughter of Margaret Ann Sublett Sessler always told the story of her grandmother coming to America from Germany as a young girl. I am wondering if this may be true and she came to live with relatives in Montgomery Co Va until she married John Sessler. So far I have not been able to find her on a Ships LIst from Germany between 1830 and 1845. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Barbara
