Vic, Thanks for the important info. I don't know what source to use to find my John C. Styles in British Naval Records. He was born at either Maidstone or Folkstone as family notes are not clear which. Born around 1780 ? Died 1866 at Edwardsville,St. Lawerence Co., N.Y. John C. Styles,Sr. Went to N. America with British Navy, in War of 1812 on Lake Champlaign, in New York near Plattsburgh, N.Y. Any suggestion our possible your family tied into this John Styles would be very helpful.
