If I am reading the records correctly, James B STURTEVANT left behind a wife, Adaline A BRYANT with two very young boys, Byron and James, and a third son on the way. Can you confirm that Clarence was born after he left for California?

The eldest son, Byron, died at the age of 7.

I've been unable to locate James on the 1860 census. I suspect that he was working at a neighbor/relative's farm, but I haven't searched the entire community, page by page.
