My GUESS is that your James is son of one of two sons of James Sturdevant (22 Apr 1754 - 14 Apr 1828) and Dorotha Dalrymple (25 May 1760 - 17 Jul 1844), namely David, b. 20 May 1783 or James, b. 10 Sep. 1786. I'm not certain either was born in Warren Co., Pennsylvania, but they certainly grew up there. I don't have any information on their spouses, if any. Your James was probably not the son of the third brother, my ancestor William (8 Oct 1779 - 26 Feb. 1862). He had a son James, b. ?, married to Abigail Green and father to Harmony and Norman Sturdevant.
