I have seen W& M Q and salo have some land and othr records I obtained in Fredericksburg, Va. I am trying to find out if there were any Sturman records of issue of Bryan Murphy (all spellings were used) from either of his two Sturman wives. He married first Mary Sturman Miles (Murphee) dau. of Thomas Sturman, first married to Capt. Miles, 2nd to Brian Murfee. Then Brian married Elizabeth Sturman, after he died, she remarried to Thomas Mewes. Taken from Westmoreland Co records of 1690-1705 and 1705-21 and Land grants of No. Neck 1694-1742. Is Sturman a Dutch name? I am looking for a Murphy that married a Dutch woman that had at least two sons, Alexander Murphey and James Murphy. My only hope is to research through colonial Dutch names. Thanks. Carol Murphey Garner. PS I have records if there are questions with which I can help you all.
