In the book of Reflection of West Wawanosh, there is a Robert Sturdy on Lot 20 East Haft of Con. 9.

Robert Sturdy Sr. (1830-1916) was married twice, first Susan(1831)named in the 1871 census, then Prudence (1828-1895) in 1891 census. His family included: Walter (1859-1939, m. Mary Hamilton(1871-1922)); Robert (1861-1922, m. Susanna Humphrey(1866-1923)); Elizabeth (1862-1937, m. R.L. Lott of Wingham); Hugh Arthur (1866, m. Annie Belle McCallum, and went to USA); Jane(1874-).

Walter Sturdy took over the management of the family farm in 1885 an lived in a house close to the road. Walter and Mary lost a number of children when young: Arthur (1886-1894); Hamilton (1888-); Hazel (1889-1893); James (1889-1908); Gertie Marie (1902-1903). All of these children are buried in Dungannon Cemetery. the children who survived are Agnes Viola (1896, m. Harold Lewis Jewett of Morris Twp.) and Robert Arnold(1893). Walter and Mary moved to Lucknow. No one has lived there since the Surdys.

There is also in the book an Ann Sturdy(1842-1874) daughter of John Sturdy and Ann Whitely of Goderich Twp. She married David Grivin. they had only one son John (1865-1882). Mother and son are buried in Maitland Cemetery, Goderich.

Hope that could help.
