Richard Alexander Stuart, b 1868, orphan
My gggrandfather was orphaned at three by a railroad accident? in Albany, New York, and lived with his maternal grandparents until he was about 13.He then "ran away" from them (Hamilton, Canada, I think) and went to Iowa where he worked on a farm and became an auctioneer, and finally a lawyer. He said he had two siblings..John and Mary??? who were living together with ?? in S.Dakota.He wasn't sure.Claimed to be related to Mary, Queen of Scots, and was anything but a boaster...rather quiet and VERY well-read, an intellectual.Any info?(He also knew how to knit his own wool socks which was discovered during World War I when he helped untangle Grandma's mess...much to her surprise!)
