G'day,
It is a long time since I had a look at these message boards, so I thought I would add my ideas as to who was your Christopher.
This is from the parish records.
Descendants of James Strowte
1 James Strowte b: Bet. 1509 - 1552
...... 2James Strout b: Bet. 1530 - 1581
.............. 3 John Strout b: 11 Apr 1601 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
.............. 3 Anthony Strout b: 22 Aug 1602 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
.................. +Mary Olyver b: Abt. 1602 m: 23 Jun 1631 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
....................... 4 Christopher Strout b: 12 Sep 1631 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
....................... 4 Grace Strout b: 02 Apr 1634 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
....................... 4 Philip Strout b: 18 Dec 1635 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
.............. 3 Nycholas Strout b: 28 Jul 1605 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
.............. 3 Jone Strout b: 14 Jun 1608 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
.............. 3 Avys Strout b: 20 Mar 1609/10 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
....................... 4 Hierome Strout b: 29 May 1633 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
.............. 3 Thomas Strout b: 05 Jan 1614/15 in Egloshayle, Cornwall,UK
Now Christopher b1631 had 4 children in Cornwall. His first wife we know nothing about. Of the children the eldest was Anthony as was the second, so in Cornish naming tradition, the first would have died.
10 years later in USA he takes a second wife (aged 49) and has a further 13 children over the next 25 years - not unheard of, but a little odd, by which time he would have been 70.
That is my theory anyway,
Cheers,
Clem from Perth
