Saphronia was the daughter of John Stroud and Mary Neves. John Stroud briefly served in the Civil War from Greenville and then died during a measles epidemic. Saphronia's brother, William Henry Stroud, was my husband's gg-grandfather. Mary Neves Stroud also died before 1870 and William Stroud was orphaned. His guardianship
papers grant guardianship to John J. Odam in Feb. 1869. In Nov. 1869 , the guardianship is transferred to William C. Trammell (I suspect this is when Sapphronia died). Later, William Henry Stroud sold his land interest from the estate of John Stroud to his cousin, J.B.F. Odam

I can trace the family back to Joshua Stroud as I have all the estate papers from the SC Archives. No doubt Joshua is related to the Spartanburg Strouds like Isaac Stroud who married Hannah Rhodes.

Joshua Stroud, b. 1760-1770 NC/SC, d. 1841-1849 Greenville Co. SC, m. Margaret “Peggy” -

o Chaney Stroud, b. ca. 1793 Greenville Co. SC, d. 1856 Greenville Co. SC, m. Jane

§ John Stroud, b. 1822 Greenville Co. SC, d. 1864 Greenville Co. SC, m. Mary Ann Neves

· William Henry “Will” Stroud, b. 1863 Greenville SC, d. 1935 Thornton, Limestone Co. TX, m. Minerva Jane Carlton

o Arthur James “Jack” Stroud, b. 1884 Greenville Co. SC, d. 1914 Richland, Navarro Co. TX, m. Myrtle Louise Clark

§ Arthur James “Buck” Stroud, b. 1912 Richland, Navarro Co. TX, d. 1940 Texarkana, Bowie Co. TX, m. Dorothy Antoinette Cannon S-33

The results are back on our son's Stroud DNA. Go to

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/stroud/results

and locate Joshua Stroud. He is down the listing on the left hand side. The Pedigree section also has the above information. Because a Richard Robinson matched our son in 36 out of 37 markers, then a Robinson is in the paternal line somewhere. Haven't found that clue yet.
