Thanks for the e-mail. I have just started to go to the Family Record Centre London, it is just round the corner from where I am now working. I was surprised at the number of Striplings there are and it would appear all from the East End. The story so far:- like you my grandfather on my mothers side was a Stripling.
Anthony Benjamin Stripling (b.) 4-1-1892 in 75 St Peters Street Bethnal Green. He had a brother William John (b.) unknown but was older than Anthony and 2 sisters, Hester Mary Ann Stripling (d.) approx 7 years old and Gladys Ruby Stripling (b.) 1-3-1901. Their farther was John William Stripling (b.) 2-1-1861 in 35 Well Street Mile End New Town. He married a Jane Margaret Hopkins on 1-1-1882 at St. Thomas Church Bethnal Green. John was the youngest of 6.
Mary Ann Stripling (b.) 2-10-1847 (d.) 3-1-1848.
Joseph Henry Stripling (b.) 7-11-1849.
Henry Stripling (b.) 10-4-1852 died after 7 weeks.
Benjamin Stripling (b.) 1-11-1854.
Thomas Stripling (b.) 11-3-1856.
Sarah Stripling (b.) 7-9-1858.
Their Father was a Benjamin Stripling (general labourer) (b.) unknown (I will be looking in The Family Record Centre tomorrow evening, will keep you informed) He married a Mary Ann Lay.
I hope that this is of help and interest to you and that if you have any information that you think might fit in please let me know.
