Per family Bible and court records, this William Stringfellow of Stafford Co., VA could not have been a son of Henry Stringfellow ( - 1815), James Stringfellow ( - 1805), Robert Stringfellow ( - 1815), or Reuben Stringfellow (1770). Assuming that William Stringfellow of Stafford Co., VA was a descendant of William Stringfellow ( - 1745), that leaves sons William, John, and Enoch. I have never seen conclusive evidence for children for these men, although, William is supposed to have had at least one son according to various family traditions. Since William Stringfellow (son of William and Sarah) was born circa 1729, he would more likely be the grandfather, rather than father, of a man born 1784-1794.
Although one branch of the Stringfellow family was associated with Fauquier Co., VA, there was a larger branch associated with Culpeper Co., VA. There was also a branch located in Loudoun Co.,VA in the early 1800s. Of course, all of these Stringfellows appear to have originated in King George Co., VA. Prior to that there were unlinked Stringfellows in Lancaster, Middlesex, Surry, and Yorke counties in Virginia, as well as in Maryland.
