Laura,

In our research, The name Stringfellow derives not from the word "STRING" but "STRENGTH", as several British Stringfellows are in the records there as "STRENGTHFELLOW". This has been confirmed by one of my cousins in his research also. I originally found out this info in a book on the meaning of names, where Stringfellow was defined as "a strong powerful man" or more correctly for today's discussion "a strong powerful person"!!!=====John Stringfellow
